Many have been asking why do people get fat. This million dollar question seems to be unanswered for ages. As a matter of fact even you may have asked yourself "why am I so fat?" This article will help to enlighten on the possible causes of obesity in our society today.

If you are less active and more sedentary then there are greater chances for being overweight. This happens to be one of the important causes of obesity. Lack of exercise is another reason for being overweight. People who work in computers and within the precincts of the office have more chances for being overweight when compared with those who are doing manual jobs. This is mainly because office employees exert less energy while doing their job. It is natural to assume that if you increase your physical activity, then your body will be able to burn more calories and you will be able to achieve a more favorable balance of calories and thereby rectify obesity.

Thyroid Problems

This is one of the rare causes of obesity. If thyroid disorders run in your family, you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. They will examine you and as well as suggest you suitable exercises.

Medications

Some medications can even contribute to obesity. If you take steroids or antidepressants, then you should be aware of this.
